40k: Where Purity Seals come from...

Description

For the :iconeye-of-terror: competition “The Unsung Heroes and Rebels” [link]

Ever wondered where the wax for all those purity seals come from? Well, in my mind they render faithful servants’ bodies down in a furnace to make the wax and store their bones in an ossuary (a bit like honoured notables having their craniums turned into servo skulls). But that leaves some poor slaves with the job of actually performing all the manual labour involved. This poor drudge has spent most of his life stirring fast-cooling wax and has developed quite a hatred of his ecclesiastical masters. The graffiti he has scratched onto the side of the basin says: Et viscera ultimo sacerdos, Nos pendent Imperator, which is my pidgin Latin for,

"And with the bowels of the last priest,
Let us hang the Emperor."

Which paraphrases Denis Diderot (1713-1784). Obviously, the slave’s in for a painful death if anyone bothers to look on the other side of his basin!

BTW: Kudos to anyone who can decode the slave’s tattoo. It reads ‘XXMVDCI’.
